Abstract Guidelines

General Information

  • Conference registration (Conference / Course) is mandatory for abstract submission.
  • Abstracts must be submitted electronically through the MidIAGES website only
  • Email, postal, or fax submissions will not be considered.

General abstract guidelines

  • Avoid abbreviations in the title.
  • Refrain from including keywords, graphs, figures, tables, or references in the abstract.
  • Use generic names of drugs or active pharmacological content, avoiding commercial names.
  • Abstracts will be reproduced as submitted; authors are responsible for language, factual accuracy, and avoiding plagiarism.
  • All residents must submit a letter from their Head of Department certifying the authenticity of the paper and the category of submission via mail to midiagesblr@gmail.com.
  • Papers submitted for the Award Paper category will be evaluated by a review panel; if not suitable, they may be considered for Free Paper or E-Poster categories

Disqualification Criteria

  • Plagiarized or doctored studies
  • Non-adherent to any of the submission guidelines

Publication Rights

By submitting an abstract, authors grant the right to publish the abstract in the book of abstracts.

Paper presentation

General Rules

  • The presenter must be one of the authors.
  • Proxy presentations are not allowed.
  • The paper for the award presentation should not have received an award at a national or state conference earlier. Such papers can be presented in the free paper session.
  • Podium presentation is limited to 8 minutes, followed by 2 minutes for questions
  • The judges’ decision is final.

Conditions

  • Presenter should be an IAGES member or associate member
  • Change of presenter is not allowed.
  • The award is given only if the podium presentation is completed.

Submission of abstract

  • Submit a structured abstract (Introduction, Aims, Methodology, Results and Conclusion) in the website link provided.
  • The abstract must be limited to 300 words.
  • The selection process of abstracts for the paper presentation is blinded (Author and Institutional information will not be shared with the reviewers).
  • Entries not selected for the award presentation category may be shifted to either free paper or poster category based on the reviewer’s decision.

Poster Presentation

General Rules

  • The presenter must be one of the authors.
  • Proxy presentations are not allowed.
  • Poster presentation is limited to 3 minutes, followed by 2 minutes for questions
  • The judges’ decision is final.
  • The poster will be presented in a E-poster format. The number of slides should not exceed 5 slides (Excluding the title slide)

  • The presenter should be an IAGES member or associate member
  • Change of presenter is not allowed.

Submission of abstract

  • Submit a structured abstract (Background /Introduction, Case / Methodology, Management / Results and Conclusion) in the website link provided.
  • The abstract must be limited to 300 words.
  • The selection process of abstracts is blinded (Author and Institutional information will not be shared with the reviewers).

Video Presentation

General

  • The video should not have received an award at any national or state conference earlier.
  • Presentation duration should not exceed 8 minutes, followed by 2 minutes for questions.
  • The final video must be submitted to the AV team in advance. Loading it during the session or using personal devices is not allowed.
  • If selected, the final presentation will be a podium presentation and is live. Recordings are not allowed.
  • Information for uploading the presentation videos will be shared soon.
  • The judges’ decision is final.

Conditions

  • Presenter should be an IAGES member
  • Only consultants or practising surgeons are allowed to apply for this category.
  • Change of presenter is not allowed.
  • The award is given only if the podium presentation is completed.

Abstract submission

  • Submit an MP4 video of not more than 1080p resolution with audio narration.
  • The video must be uploaded on a google drive link and the editor access to the file must be shared to midiagesblr@gmail.com
  • Abstracts must be structured under the following headings:
  • Background – Brief context and relevance
  • Objective – Aim of the video
  • Methods – Description of procedure/approach
  • Results – Key outcomes or observations
  • Conclusion – Clinical relevance and take-home message

Ethical Requirements

  • Patient identity must not be revealed in any form (face, name, hospital number, etc.)
  • If identity is visible, written informed consent from the patient is mandatory
  • Institutional ethical approval (if applicable) should be mentioned
  • Any conflict of interest must be disclosed
